The City Youth Council of Toronto (CYCTO) is a chapter of the Canadian Coalition of Youth Councils, an organization focused on increasing civic participation amongst young Canadians by providing incentives and delivering experiential educational opportunities. The CYC helps youth develop a greater sense of purpose and responsibility, informs them about what is happening in their city, and promotes the valuable contributions they make to the vitality of their local communities.
There are 25 municipal wards within the City of Toronto, each of which is represented within CYCTO. These prestigious 25 positions will be granted to youth aged 12 through 18 who have been democratically elected by their peers. This is Toronto's only democratically elected youth council and it will truly give a voice to those who participate.
